Changing the world doesn’t have to stop just because COVID-19 makes it harder to get out there in person. Here are some great ways to continue making an impact in your community while staying safe

1. Volunteer with your favorite organizations

Nonprofits in the community are always looking for volunteers to support their mission. While the current situation may prevent in-person volunteering, there are many remote opportunities as well. Click here to find ways to get involved in the Denver area.

2. Host a fundraiser

While many nonprofits are looking for volunteers, they also rely on donations from the community to carry out their mission. You learned about many different fundraising tactics in the YouthRoots program, you can continue using them to fundraise for organizations and causes that mean the most to you.

3. Participate in Citizen Science

Citizen Science relies on public participation to address real world science problems. From documenting wildlife in your neighborhood to searching through images of space, there are many ways to contribute to important science research. You can find projects through National Geographic, SciStarter, CitizenScience.gov and more.

4. Help out your friends, family, and neighbors!

The best part about changing the world is that the smallest actions can make a big impact. Help your neighbors with their garden, a house project, babysitting, or anything else they might need this summer. It’s a great way to make an immediate impact in someone’s life.

5. Get involved in the fight for racial justice

There are so many ways to get involved in the Black Lives Matter movement. You can sign petitions, protest peacefully, donate to organizations fighting for racial justice, have tough conversations with friends and family, listen, and learn.
